What To Expect

When your loved one is in addiction treatment

We invite and encourage you to learn about addiction, get support and begin to repair relationships.

This begins as soon as your family member or loved one enters our program.

Once the client is admitted to an Arrow Health treatment program, you will be assigned a qualified, experienced Family Therapist as your contact person and contact with the family therapist is encouraged.

1 – 30 Days
  • Family attends information/counselling session.
  • Focus on understanding addiction and recovery as well as information on The Bentinck and visitation / communication.
31 – 60 Days
  • Family attends counselling session.
  • Focus on collaborating with the family to build on strengths and resources. Education about coping skills and family support group, have family been attending and practicing skills learnt.
61 – 90 Days
  • Family and client attend counselling session together.
  • Continuing Care Plan developed with the client, client counsellor, family and family therapist.
  • Focus on assessing challenges the family may be facing about client transitioning from The Bentinck to home or supported accommodation. Family’s understanding of addiction and total abstinence.
